Dike
Constructions
 Alongside
the west bank of Danshuei
River, dikes are built: Sanchong
Dike, Lujhou Dike. Alongside
the west bank of Dahan River,
there are Sinjhuang Dike,
Hsi-sheng Dike, Shulin Dike,
and alongside the east bank,
Banciao Dike and Tucheng Dike. Alongside
the west bank of Sindian River,
there are Jhongyuan Dike and
reconstruction of Yonghe Dike.
The Erchong Floodway was built
to control diverted flood.
There are 60 miles of dike
constructions and 39 water
gates in total.?
 
 
Drainage Constructions
The protected area is planned and built in major drains for 49 miles, and 29 pumping stations are built in Yamu Port and Sihbiantou, among other locations. These constructions improve the drainage of Banciao, Jhonghe, Yonghe, Sanchong, Lujhou, Taishan, Wugu, Sinjhuang, Shulin and Tucheng areas.
 
Bridge Constructions
 In addition to the reconstruction of Taipei Bridge, Jhongsin Bridge, Huajiang Bridge and Fujhou Bridge, three bridges are newly built: Erchong Floodway Bridge, 103 Route and 108 Route Genyue Floodway Bridge, greatly improving the local and intercity traffics of Taipei area. After the completion of the projects, the grand Taipei area, including Sanchong, Banciao and other cities and towns, with 11875 hectares of lands and 5 million residents, will be well protected from flooding.
Building the Huanhe Expressway
 The broadening of the Fangfan Road behind the dikes connects and forms a 60 mile external circular expressway network. With the reconstructions of Taipei Bridge, Jhongsing Bridge, Huajiang Bridge, Fujhou Bridge, and the newly built floodway bridges, local traffics have been greatly improved.
Improving the Quality of Living
After the reconstructions, there are 600 hectares of dry shoal lands for residents?leisure activities, and large areas of wetlands are reserved for ecological conservation.
Removing River Restraint to Facilitate Development of Lands behind Dikes
The dirtiness and untidiness along the river banks have been improved since the completion of the dikes. The original lands in the restricted area behind the dikes have secured protection. In connection with the area’s overall urban development, thorough analysis on exploitation and utilization of the lands will be done.
